I like other publishers have had our share of bouncing email
addresses. Hotmail and Zwallet accounts are not the only
culprits are many claim. Email addresses are of all makes
and sizes.

I have had subscribers that have been on my list
for eons it seems and suddenly their email bounces two or
three times. What is the cause of this scenerio? Perhaps
their ISP is not working or they are away and forgot to put
the mail on hold or even forgot to pay their bill. Even
forgetting to check the inbox may cause a email to bounce.

Patience is a virtue for those loyal friends. Keeping a log
of bouncing emails may solve the problem. Just recording the
dates and times and what email they coincide with, may just
keep you from deleting a loyal subscriber with a slight
problem.It probably is just that!

Solo Ads have a way of subscribers driving subscribers away,
as do Classified editions. But the subscriber fails to see
that these emails are a part of publishing and they had
their
ad listed in those classifieds once too. Solo ads are “paid”
advertising and deserve their place in the limelight as
well.

But on the flip side there are those fake email addresses
that really get under your skin and trying to track them
literally wears you out. This is a sneaky attempt to
subscribe with a free ad, over and over again, until you
happen to get caught..maybe!

I immediately reply to my new subscribers either personally
or through my host, Topica. Topica does a great job handling
bouncing emails, either they are a soft bounce[temporary] or
a hard bounce[cannot be delivered at all.] I always reenable
a soft bounce, keeping track of course and immediately
delete
the hard bounces. I don’t need the harassment, yet I give
those soft bounces another try.
If I send a personal reply and it bounces, forget it,
deleted,
ad and all. No shame! Get a “Real Email Address or do not
subscribe.” Case closed!

I publish my newsletter three times a week and send several
solo ads, and I offer free ads to my subscribers through an
adcode. I include a classified editon of subscriber ads, but
I also provide a article ezine to balance it out.I am
generous and care about my list.I do my best to remove
anyone
that wishes to unsubscribe, even though each email has an
unsubscribe link enclosed. My list is 100% optin.and double
opt-in for most. The latter may be a hassle, but it sorts
out
the serious subscriber from the greedy one.I do not care to
have someone come along and try to get more then what is
offered. Take it or leave it alone.

I receive hundreds of emails a day, probably 2/3 of them are
junk, I did not ask for them, but I look all my email over.
That means 1/3 is either subscribers or ezines I subscribed
to,or business.

I spend alot of time reading and sorting email. I find many
good ideas and resources, and many emails that go nowhere,
but in the trash…Why? Because of a bounce and possibly
a sale if they had only provided a reachable email address.

All right, now you need to consider what software you will use to back up
your data.

Do it by hand - One possible method (which will not work if you are using a
tape drive) is to simply copy files to your backup media by hand. This does
have some advantages:

- It does not cost anything. And after spending the money to buy some backup
hardware this may be the best solution.

- It’s very easy. Just drag and drop (assuming you are not using a tape
drive).

The disadvantages are numerous:

- You must be present to do the backup. However, you could just drag and
drop before going to bed.

- Since it requires you to actually perform the backup yourself, you may
have a greater tendency to allow backups to slip.

- Your system will be very busy while the backup is being performed, since
it is done “in the foreground”.

Second Copy - Possibly the best all-around product that I’ve found for
simple backup operations is called Second Copy (this is not an affiliate
link - this is an honest recommendation and we will not make any money if
you purchase the product). Second Copy is inexpensive (less than thirty
dollars for a one user license) and extremely simple to use.

The program sits in your system tray whenever you are logged in. You create
profiles (this is very easy) which specify which files to back up, where you
want them to go and when you want the backup to occur. The entire process of
setting up a profile generally requires a couple of minutes.

What I’ve done on my own system is create a series of profiles to back up
different things.

- I created one profile to back up my Outlook stationary. This is not set to
go at any particular time - I must manually start it up when I want this
directly backed up. This is because I have set the output to my writeable CD
unit, so I only want it to run when I have the proper CD inserted.

- I created a similar profile for my desktop themes, ICQ skins, wallpaper
and screen savers.

- I created an automatic profile to perform a disk-to-disk backup of all of
my data very few hours. Second Copy only copies those files that have
changed since the last run. This gives me a very up-to-date backup in case I
have a system failure.

InSync - Another great product is called InSync (again, this is not an
affiliate link and we will make no money if you purchase the product). This
is similar to Second Copy, although with not as many options. InSync is
great for making copies of directories or entire disks very quickly. Like
Second Copy, it is very inexpensive - around twenty dollars.

Backup Exec - If you choose to use tape as your backup media, then you are
stuck with Backup Exec or a similar product. I have used Backup Exec in both
my work (to back up over 100 servers) and at home, and to tell you the truth
I have found it to be lacking in numerous regards. The product will do the
job, but it tends to be fickle and full of bugs. Add to that the problems
associated with tape drives (bad media, no random access) and you’ve got a
backup scheme which is the bare minimum.

Whatever comes with the hardware - Virtually all backup hardware will come
with some software which performs backups. If you are strapped for cash, you
can use this software. It will perform the job, although perhaps not as well
as you would like.

Recommendations - Personally, I use both Second Copy and InSync. Second Copy
is better for backing up things like my Outlook Stationary, Desktop themes
and ICQ skins. InSync is great for making mass copies of large directories
and entire disks (it is faster than Second Copy but not as flexible.)

So you’ve listened to the advice, and you’re going to start your
own publication. Obviously, you must have some writing ability,
or collaborate with someone who does, and you must be
knowledgeable in the areas you will cover in your ezine.

One of the biggest mistakes a fledgling publisher can make is to
focus their publication on something they don’t know much about.
While it is possible to get content from contributing authors,
which does add a great deal to your publication, if you are to
succeed, you must have original content.

Many people can write an occasional article that is excellent.
Writing an article or column however on a regular basis, is a
demanding task. But some folks like Rozey Gean at:
http://www.marketing-seek.com and Larry Dotson at:
http://www.ldpublishing.com have found the secret to doing
just this.

The hardest thing is to get ideas for articles. It seems that
once you do get an idea, the article then flows rather easily.

So, where do you get the ideas?

Actually ideas can come from anyplace. Many come from questions
your readers might ask. Sometimes a simple question can blossom
into a full blown article. Email you receive, even spam, can
contain a keyword that sets your creative juices flowing.

Browsing the web is a great place. Discussion sites, where
people are talking about something might give you an idea. Many
times people get into rather heated discussions and the
controversy itself might breed an idea.

Articles by other authors can stimulate your thinking, but you
have to be careful here. While we all know you can’t take
another’s work and claim it as your own, you also can’t take
their idea and simply rewrite it a bit. There is a gray area
here, and sometimes you may be taken to task even if you have
never seen their work.

I once had someone say I did a rewrite of their article. When
informed of this by the author, I did check the article in
question, and the articles bore very little, if any similarity
to each other. But both articles did have the same title
however, which happened to be a common business term. So even if
you are acting in good faith, it can come back to “bite you”.

One great source of ideas is articles that are out of date.
Many people, for example have written on the subject of how to
submit your web site to the search engines to get a high
ranking. Conditions change so rapidly in this regard, an
article could be written several times a year on this subject
alone. What was true just a few short months ago may not be
today.

The web is a dynamic place that is constantly changing. Not a
day goes by that there is something in the newspaper that
could spark an idea. Just this week I read an article about
discount web sites for airline tickets. Another article talked
about the disparity between urban and rural areas for web
access. Still another compared the number of minority
households that had computers - and yet another talked about the
“Spanish Market”.

The ideas are there, and if you keep a log of them, the next
time you sit down to write one, you should have a never ending
supply. If you get an idea, simply write down the title of the
prospective article.

Many times, as the article develops, the original title may not
be appropriate. But, even if you do change the title for your
current article, keep the old one. Who knows - a year from now
it may light another spark.

A search of the web on quotes is a fertile place to look. “Power
Quotes” by Kevin Eikenberry - http://powerquotes.net - has a
wealth of information. Dr. Kevin Nunley - http://drnunley.com
is an idea factory. There are others like them that should be
on your required reading list.

When doing research for the current article you are writing, the
web is a fertile place to look. Always keep a paper and pencil
handy, and if you get an idea write it down. Keep that same pad
and pencil next to your bed. If you get an idea, don’t trust
your memory to write it down in the morning.

Surprisingly, when I started this article it was going to be
about advertising, but after the first paragraph, I found
myself writing something far afield from this. Guess that
will have to wait for another time.

Never has competition been so difficult in the Internet world. Google and Yahoo keep indexing more and more pages, into the millions upon millions, and yet more and more people are creating super quickie links pages that are supposed to get other webmasters to want to trade links with them.

I still trade links with other webmasters, but I’ve gotten more particular as the link trade offers get worse and worse.

First of all, nobody uses title tags correctly anymore. Just for example, a directory page for cars should have a automotive keyword in the title tag, not “ACME Soap washes your odor away guaranteed!”. Would I want my hot rod site listed on a page with that for a title tag? Remember, if by some miracle that page got listed in Google the link would read “ACME Soap washes your odor away guaranteed!”. More than likely the page wouldn’t even come up under any searches for cars or hot rods, even if all the links on the page were automotive related. Now, this example was a good links directory compared to most today.

Most people who want to trade links have links directory consisting of nothing but miscellaneous links. I mean nothing but links. I’ve seen a lot with no design whatsoever and no title tag at all. A page of links with no theme whatsoever is worthless for my site and yours.

The hidden links page is also a big frustration of mine. You’ve got to love it. One webmaster said you shouldn’t need a magnifying glass and a GPS system to find a link to the directory. Webmasters need to start treating their links pages as though they were as important as the rest of their site.

A lot has been said about link trades being a lot less effective these days. Could the problems we’ve covered here be the cause?

A Good Directory
A good links directory has title tags that relate to the content of the page, is organized neatly by theme, is easy to find, and is as close to your website’s main theme as possible. In other words, the more related the site is to your site’s content, the more the link trade is going to be valuable to your site. This is regardless of whether or not you get a higher search engine ranking. The best possible link trade for overall increases in traffic are ones that are going to boost your traffic with or without search engines, and if the links directory is a resource to the public you will get traffic from it. It would be much more probable that you would get a boost from such a site.

The basic moral of the story is if you want good sites to link to you then make a good professional looking links directory, and please no more title tags that do nothing but repeat your business name.

9 Steps to Successfully Switching to a New Web Hosting Company

Switching to a new web hosting company can be a difficult task, but we have provided you a list of things to do that can make your transition much smoother.

1. Before you sign up for your new web hosting services, make sure that your new plan offers all of the same features that your web site is currently using. Do you have enough disk space? Does your new plan offer enough bandwidth? Is it using the same operating system (Windows or Unix)? Also make sure that your new plan supports any programming languages that you are currently using.

2. Once you have researched the company and verified that the new web hosting company will support your website, go ahead and sign up for your new web hosting plan.

3. Set up your existing e-mail accounts on your new server. Make note of the new POP3 and SMTP that you will soon need to start using.

4. Upload your website files to your new server. Since your domain name currently points to your old hosting account, you will have to use your new IP address to do this.

5. Test to make sure that your site looks good and functions properly on your new server. Most web hosting companies can provide a link to preview your site before the domain name has been transferred over.

6. Once you are satisfied that your site looks and functions OK, you can go to your registrar and change the DNS settings to point the domain to the new web host’s nameservers. You should be provided this information after signing up for your account.

7. You will see your site on the new server 24-48 hours after you modify the DNS settings. Your e-mail will also start going to your new account at this time.

8. Modify your e-mail client with your new POP3 and SMTP e-mail settings.

9. Verify that your new website is working OK. Make sure that all of the files were loaded properly and that all scripts are running fine.

You have now successfully switched to a new cheap web hosting company!

Insurance Market06 Nov 2008 12:57 pm

Public liability insurance is essential because all corporations are at risk to some extent. Albeit nothing serious has yet taken place to your companies office block that is no assurance that it won’t someday in near the future. If somebody is hurt, or their goods lost, it is your duty to appropriately reimburse them. The outlay could be shockingly pricey, depending on the specific brand of the case.

However, you do have a way to shield yourself for this chance. Getting public liability insurance permits you to breathe to some extent easier. If a client claim is expensive, the insurance company will be at hand to present you with a security net. Its their legal duty to guarantee that you are sheltered from claims and legal expenses brought against you. This leaves you free to concentrate on actually doing business, rather than worrying about what may well happen. Following are good examples of times when public liability cover have come in handy.

Directors of plumbing firms generally get the job done fast & easy. But, at times something may go horribly wrong. For example, should you smash up a client’s tubes whilst on the job, damaging possessions for instance personal computers and flooring, public liability cover will be there to pick-up the receipt. If you wish to obtain a quote for Professional Indemnity Insurance cover, visit Insured Risks.

An additional case study is that of a promotions company. If a client were to injure an ankle in your company even if it is not your fault, you would be held legally responsible. Nevertheless, with public liability insurance you would not have to pay the claim yourself.

In a similar case, physical injury caused to a spectator by a worker on a construction site is the accountability of the firm’s owner. This sort of claim can easily get incredibly costly indeed, unless you obtain the correct protection.

Using the awesome therapy method called Future Life Progression, aka FLP, males and females can often now see five years in the future and ascertain if you marry the guy you are bed hopping with. The wonderful therapy was first learnt 27 years ago and has been played with ever since by top psychics. It has presently taken till the 21st century for this wonderful technique to be made readily available to all.

The Future Life Progression hypnosis therapy first starts by putting a guy into a relaxed state using future progression therapy and this naturally takes around 5 minutes. The induction hypnosis method will make men and women feel tremendous and men and women will then be made to go deeper even more. The future life hypnotist will ordinarily ask you to then think you are in a flying star and you are carrying fast forward until you reach your fifth year. This will be when you move fast forward eight years and then you may be able to see with your own eyes your very own future.

There are legions of wonderful uses for Future Life Progression, aka FLP, you might see if you are engaged, you will often see if you are still residing in the same county and you might also view if you are working in the same organisation. Use Spiritual Healing Energy to heal yourself with Anne Jirsch.

The success of ru-domains
The registry of ru-domains reports, that the number of domain names registered in Russia’s national domain, the ru-domains, has increased 19.82% in the first half of 2004 to 256.356 ru-domains.
Ru-Center compares this with the growth of 2003, which was 16.02% for the first half of 2003.
The increase among ru-domains in Russia is coincident with the rising numbers of Russian Internet users. Ru-Center explains, that the weekly users numbered 5.9 million June 2004 , 1.4 million more than one year earlier. The number of Russian Internet users is expanding 30% a year.
ICANN accredited registrar Secura is accepting registrations of ru-domains by
non-russian enterprises and private people. According to the experience of
this registrar, the number of ru-domains owned by foreign registrants is growing rapidly
(https://www.domainregistry.de/ru-domain.html).

Running a pay per click campaign can be a valuable, fast source of online sales - but it can also cost you a lot of money if you don’t know what you’re doing. Many pay per click newbies do the following:

  • They sign up with a pay per click search engine and start their pay per click campaign.
  • They get lots of traffic, lots of clicks and pay lots of money.
  • They don’t make a single sale.

That’s not how it should go - you can make tons of sales using pay per click advertising. I have several websites that ONLY receive pay per click traffic and they make sales on a consistent basis.

The problem is that you have to know what you’re doing. With that in mind here are 3 quick and easy tips to help you get the most from your pay per click campaign:

Tip #1: Pull Them In With An Attention-Getting, Optimized Title

Your web site title is the first thing the searcher sees. Make sure it matches what your web site offers or else you’ll tick your searchers off - and that’s not a good way to start a potential customer relationship!

(How many times have you been looking for something and clicked on a title only to find a porn site or a get-out-of-debt-fast site…talk about bad Internet etiquette!)

Also, try to put the relevant, most popular keywords in the title. Titles with keywords in them have been proven to get up to 50% more click-throughs.

If you can, write a title that lists a benefit to the customer or evokes curiosity. Titles with benefits will pull more click-throughs than stale, factual titles.

“Shed Pounds Fast With Celebrity Diet Secrets” will always beat “The Diets Of Famous People”. One lists a benefit while evoking curiosity - the second just evokes minor curiosity.

Test different titles and see which ones pull a higher click through rate. You’ll eventually find one or two titles that pull in the most clicks (as well as the most sales) and you’ll probably want to stick with those.

Tip #2: Use Your Description to Pre-quality and Pre-sell

If the searcher gets past the title to the description you’re doing well…but you have to hook them with your description. Again, make sure the description elaborates on the title and tells your searcher EXACTLY what they can expect.

This is also a way you can further ‘pre-qualify’ your traffic. You don’t want to spend money on people who don’t fit your perfect customer criteria so be as specific as possible about what your website offers them.

Don’t just say “A website that sells a variety of cheesecakes” Pre-sell and pre-quality your traffic with a description like:

“Gourmet New York Specialty cheesecakes sold exclusively online. From Chocolate Brownie Cheesecake to Bailey’s Irish Cream Cheesecake. Check out our online catalogue if you want to serve your guests something heavenly!”

Makes your mouth water already doesn’t it? And chances are that someone only looking for a free cheesecake recipe won’t click through so you’ve prequalified your traffic and your conversion rate will go through the roof!

Tip #3: Think ‘Niche’ with your keywords

Unless you are Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig, chances are you can’t afford to spend $5.00 on the word “diet”. That’s ok - you don’t have to.

You can pick up a huge variety of more specific keywords that probably very few pay per click competitors have bid on (for example, what about ‘heart healthy diet’?)

Just make sure to do your homework and remember to get the misspellings people use also.

So those are 3 tips to get the most from your pay per click campaign. By grabbing customers with an attention getting title, prequalifying them with a detailed description and choosing niche keywords, you’re sure to get ready-to-buy traffic for pennies per keyword.

Good luck and may you make millions with your online business!
