Sheffield Hallam University has sealed a record deal worth 4.4 million pounds, which is the city’s biggest so far this year in the commercial property space, by taking up 38,000 sq feet of office premises in Oneleven Arundel Gate. Lambert Smith Hampton, the UK’s leading national property consultant pulled off the deal in barely three months time.

The Arundel Gate office complex will be utilized for back-office operations and administrative functions whereas the city campus will be relocated to either a brand new venue or a refurbished property. These movements will vacate the currently occupied spaces, which will henceforth be utilized for educational and training purposes.

A seven story building adjacent to Castle Square, Oneleven Arundel Gate is an up market property with ample space to accommodate future requirements of the university, easy accessibility and all sorts of amenities for the convenience of the employees. The combination of all the positive points made it a unanimous selection for the university.

Alex Pettifer, The Director of Estates and Facilities for Sheffield Hallam hailed the university as a progressive institution with liberal and enlightened principles, always ahead of its times since its inception in 1843. The university is the sixth largest in the UK, with 30,000 students, over 4,000 staff and pumps in more than 150 million pounds in its coffers every year as revenue.

Mr. Pettifer also shared the upcoming plans of the university, which involves an additional investment of £50 million by 2010 over and above the 100 million pounds that it has already spent in providing high quality education and world-class infrastructure in the last 10 years.

Guy Gilfillan, the officer-in-charge of the Lambert Smith Hampton office in Sheffield indicated that the deal signified a chunk of office area getting used up in the city centre. For other office rental opportunities within this area, click on desk space.
