A Smart Business Advice

Henry Ford taught that to simplify the manufacture of automobiles, the best way to do so was to install an assembly line: Instead of one artisan making an object, several men working for the same purpose, only one aspect each for every guy. This simple concept revolutionized the auto manufacturing industry -as well as the industry as a whole- permitting to build cars at a cost whereas the average person could afford to buy one.

The lesson we should take from this, is that having the ability to improve the process of getting the job done quicker and at a lower cost, without compromising the actual quality of the job, will help the person who simplified the process to be at the top of his field.

Pennies saved wisely in your home business can turn into dollars at the end of the day, and dollars can quickly multiply into hundreds or thousands of dollars over time.

Optimization of effort and investment is crucial in any business. And by investment, I include time and talent.

There ocassions that saving a penny could mean loosing thousands of dollars. A sound financial decision is based always in the measurability of results of any given action.

Fripp in his teaching does not speculate on the afterlife, but he shares the Gurdjieff/Ouspensky insistence on man in his normal state as a dozy automaton. It is a paradoxical doctrine, echoed through the ages in many teachings, including the Calvinist doctrine of predestination: we have no free will, development of one’s freedom can begin only with a clear-headed recognition of one’s absolute slavery to circumstance, mental associations, emotion, instinct, genetics, biochemistry, the laws of nature. Ouspensky quotes Gurdjieff as saying, ‘Every grown-up man consists wholly of habits, although he is often unaware of it and even denies having any habits at all … The struggle with small habits is very difficult and boring, but without it self-observation is impossible.’ From Fripp’s Guitar Craft Monograph III: Aphorisms: ‘It is difficult to exaggerate the power of habit.’

The Danish philosopher and religious thinker Sren Kierkegaard (1813-1855), regarded as the fountainhead of twentieth-century secular and religious existentialism, maintained that the average person, going about his or her daily routines automatically, is as incapable of sin as he or she is of repentance. Kierkegaard, who spent his life as a writer championing conscious subjectivity as the sine qua non of authentic existence, and who wanted the words “The Individual” inscribed on his tombstone, was wont to find, as was Gurdjieff, confirmation of his own views in the words of Socrates: “Know thyself.” Gurdjieff put it like this: ‘Individuality, a single and permanent I, consciousness, will, the ability to do, a state of inner freedom, all these are qualities which ordinary man does not possess. To the same category belongs the idea of good and evil, the very existence of which is connected with a permanent aim, with a permanent direction and a permanent center of gravity … Permanent truth and permanent falsehood can exist only for a permanent man. If a man himself continually changes, then for him truth and falsehood will also continually change.’

Sometimes Gurdjieff would refer to his methods as the “Fourth Way.” The first three ways were the way of the fakir, the way of the monk, and the way of the yogi. The fakir struggles with the physical body, devoting himself to mastering incredibly difficult physical exercises and postures {Which will be like the Mudras and Mutras in the impact of brain lobes. I have used this to help restore the mentally ill.}. The way of the monk represents the way of faith, the cultivation of religious feelings, and self-sacrifice. The yogi’s approach is through knowledge and the mind. Gurdjieff said of his Fourth Way that it combined work simultaneously on the body, emotions, and mind, and that it could be followed by ordinary people in everyday life - that it required no retirement into the desert. The Fourth Way did involve whole-hearted acceptance of certain conditions imposed by a teacher; it also involved supreme effort to devote oneself continuously to inner work, even though one’s outward worldly roles might not change that much. In spite of his insistence that work without a teacher was impossible, Gurdjieff stressed each individual’s responsibility:

The fourth way differs from the other ways in that the principal demand made upon a man is the demand for understanding. A man must do nothing that he does not understand, except as an experiment under the supervision and direction of his teacher. The more a man understands what he is doing, the greater will be the results of his efforts. This is a fundamental principle of the fourth way. The results of work are in proportion to the consciousness of the work. No “faith” is required on the fourth way; on the contrary, faith of any kind is opposed to the fourth way. On the fourth way a man must satisfy himself of the truth of what he is told. And until he is satisfied he must do nothing.

In the 1988 pamphlet “An Introduction to Guitar Craft,” Fripp, who has explicitly called himself a follower of the Fourth Way, wrote, ‘In Guitar Craft there is nothing compulsory. One is not asked to violate cherished beliefs or accept any of the ideas presented. Rather, a healthy skepticism is encouraged.’

By its very nature, the Fourth Way is not for everyone. Knowledge is not deliberately hidden, Gurdjieff would say, but most people simply are not interested. The former leader of a Gurdjieff group in Boston, Meggan Moorehead, told me of Gurdjieff’s “five of twenty of twenty.” Only twenty per cent of all people ever think seriously about higher realities; of these, only twenty per cent ever decide to do anything about it; and of these, only five per cent ever actually get anywhere.

What then is this “work”? Those in the Gurdjieff school write of “work on oneself,” and often capitalize the concept, as in “The Work.” Gurdjieff time and again insisted on the importance of direct transmission of knowledge from teacher to student, and emphatically warned of the grave dangers of attempting to learn exercises from a book or cramming one’s head full of abstract spiritual notions on one’s own. Those who have met an authentic teacher know the sense of presence so important to the whole process, the teacher is an embodiment of the knowledge of which he or she speaks, and in a sense what he or she says is of little importance compared with the student’s opportunity to observe what he or she is. Descriptions of Gurdjieff by those who worked with him are filled with references to his effortless bearing, his economy of movement, his feline grace, his almost overwhelming physical presence as well as his spontaneity and earthy sense of humor. A student in Gurdjieff’s Moscow circle described his first meeting with the teacher: ‘He looked at me, and I had the distinct impression that he took me in the palm of his hand and weighed me.’ {He could cause women to feel sexually aggressive and lose all inhibition through the use of this look combined with breathing techniques.}

Although knowledge is not hoarded secretively, there are inevitable difficulties and pitfalls in efforts to share it with outsiders. Jesus called this “casting pearls before swine.” Gurdjieff said students of his methods would find themselves “unable to transmit correctly what is said in the groups. [Students] very soon begin to learn from their own personal experience how much effort, how much time, and how much explaining is necessary in order to grasp what is said in groups. It becomes clear to them that they are unable to give their friends a right idea of what they have learned themselves.” Ouspensky relates that in the early work with Gurdjieff in Moscow and St. Petersburg, it was strictly forbidden for students to write down, much less publish, anything at all connected with Gurdjieff and his ideas; somewhat later, Gurdjieff relaxed this rule, accepting as students many who subsequently published accounts of their experiences in the work.

Having, I think, caveated the whole matter sufficiently into the dust, I offer here a brief outsider’s summary of what was involved in the work of Gurdjieff’s groups.

Relaxation. Many of Gurdjieff’s exercises involved or began with some sort of gradual relaxation of the muscles, starting with the muscles of the face and working downward through the body. Fripp has said that we can do nothing when not relaxed, and since his time at Sherborne has practiced a regular routine of relaxation in the morning before breakfast; such a ritual, led by a qualified instructor, has been worked into the Guitar Craft seminars. Along with relaxation goes a type of exercise for sensing the different parts of the body “from the inside.” For Gurdjieff’s groups, this might have involved, for instance, lying on one’s back and concentrating all of one’s awareness first on one’s nose, then on one’s right foot, and so on.

Other Exercises; The Movements. Ouspensky relates a series of what he found to be “unbelievably difficult” physical/mental exercises that Gurdjieff had picked up in various esoteric schools during his travels. In general, these involved some precise and exact combination of counting, breathing, sensing of body parts, and movements, to be done in some coordinated sequence. The famous “movements,” often done to music Gurdjieff had composed himself, were dances based on those Gurdjieff had observed and participated in, notably among Sufis and dervishes, and in ancient hidden monasteries. Gurdjieff taught that the movements were not merely calisthenics, exercises in concentration, and displays of bodily coordination and aesthetic sensibility: on the contrary, in the movements was embedded real, concrete knowledge, passed from generation to generation of initiates - each posture and gesture representing some cosmic truth that the informed observer could read like a book.

You know when you have so much to do but you don’t have the motivation to do it. Or anything for that matter. All yo seem to want to do is just sit around. Then your buddy calls and is like, “Hey, wanna come play some football with us, we need one more guy.” And you tell him that you cant because you are doing yard work all day, which really means sitting on the couch watching Oprah and drinking champagne. Just getting more and more out of shape, more and more less motivated. What you need to do is get up, get moving, do something. But I know it can be hard. Harder that you might think.
That’s why there are supplements that can help along your way. What you could try is something like Acceletrim to give your metabolism a healthy boost. And not eating so much wouldn’t hurt either. Apatite suppressants are a healthy way to keep the calories down. If you’re not very hungry, you wont eat so much. Just set a goal for yourself. Try it. Maybe just cut out a half hour of TV a day. You can do it. Get up and go for a walk. Just a little bit of exercise a day will get you back to your old mobile self again. Who knows, maybe soon you will actual get off the couch and actually do some of that yard work yourself, instead of hiring the neighbor kid to do it. You will even start saving some money by doing things yourself.

Living With Telecommunication15 Oct 2008 10:48 am

Having used VoIP problem free for a long time I was baffled as to why all of a sudden I had been having lots of issues. Sound quality has massively deteriorated and latency issues have become markedly noticeable. Users on VoIP online forums in the US and other countries, such as Germany and Mexico, having issues since last year. For a while VoIP might seem like a good deal for the average person, more established interests in the telecommunication industry view it differently - and are doing something about it.

Consultation

knowledgeable of what has happened in other countries the United Kingdom telecoms regulator Ofcom took the decisive action in January of announcing that it will look at the growing VoIP industry and report next month on whether new laws are necessary to shield it. The consultation document says: “VoIP service providers have expressed concern that their ability to provide a reliable service may be impacted by internet access providers (ISPs) selectively degrading or blocking their VoIP traffic.”

Ofcom says it has no proof this is occurring in the UK; only about 000 customers use it. But the forecast is for that to rise by 4m in the next six months.

And VoIP barring takes place in other countries, often those where there is still only a single incumbent telecoms company. In Saudi Arabia, for example national carrier Saudi Telecom is using software from US supplier Narus to block all VoIP phone calls.

Telecommunication companies in the US as well as other countries are hesitant to have their bandwidth encroached on by traffic from which they earn no revenue and have been challenged over similar alleged incidents of internet telephony blocking. Hindering VoIP traffic is not easy but does not break the law and blocking specific kinds of internet traffic is going up.

The European based VoIP giant Skype who are now owned by the pre-eminent auction site eBay has been particularly controversial. Skype is used by 75m people. But increasingly a lot of people do not want Skype on their network.

Skype is considered by a lot of people to pose a potential security risk because it creates an encrypted tunnel out of the network and forms supernodes that sit on it and set up VoIP calls. There is huge debate about how much bandwidth such supernodes eat up. There have been warnings that in supernode mode, Skype could possibly saturate a 100 Mbps line.

AURA FAQs

Here are some frequently asked questions about reading auras.
I am not seeing any auras

There are several reasons why you are not seeing auras. Here are some of them:
You have not prepared yourself properly.
You are not in tune with the other person’s energy. Some people’s auras are harder to read than others are.
In this case, make an extra effort and keep in mind that you may not be able to read everyone’s energy.
You are either sick, tired, or under stress. At this point, you should postpone reading until you are better.
The person that you are reading is sick, tired, or depressed. When people are sick or depressed, their auras get smaller and less vibrant; hence, they are hard to read.
Aura reading is easier for some people than others. You may need to take a class or buy special equipment, such as aura glasses.
In addition, regular attendance at a meditation group where you can learn to focus your attention and read other’s energies is useful.

I am not seeing any colors in auras

It takes a lot of time and practice to see colors in auras. Sometimes, the colors are very muddy and hard to distinguish. Not all auras have colors. The best thing to do is to keep practicing. Eventually, you will see colors.

What do I do to protect myself against negative energy?

If you meet negative energy while doing readings, you need to protect yourself psychically. To do this, imagine your whole body surrounded by white light.

I am seeing entities and energy other than aura

The spiritual realm, on which auras exist, is filled with all sorts of entities, ranging from loving and positive (such as angels) to annoying or even dangerous.
Here are some types of entities that you may be encountering:
Spirit guides and guardians attached to the person you are reading.
Thought forms or psychic imprints. Thought forms can be negative or positive and usually produced by intense brooding. Oftentimes, they maybe indication of physical illness, depression, or mental illness. Many times, they are attached to the individual that you are reading.
Astral travelers. Oftentimes, when we are dreaming or in a coma, our spirits leave the body and travel to other places.
Ghosts–These can be spirits of the person’s loved ones or they may have a connection to the house that you are reading in.
The spirits of living people who are either dreaming, in a coma, or engaged in astral travel.
Remember that, in all cases, your focus is on the person to the reader. The first thing you should be is determine their relationship to the person being read. Describe the spirit entities to your client and see if he can identify them. If the energies are at all negative, protect your psychically by surrounding you and the person you are reading with white light.
If possible, address the entities and ask them why there are here and if they have any information, which may help the person, whom you are reading. In any case, whatever entities, you should determine what information they are trying to give to you about the person you are reading.
Can I be a Christian, Moslem, Jew, etc. and read auras?
The belief in auras is not tied to any specific religious tradition. Throughout history, advanced spiritual people such as Buddha, Christ and their immediate students were painted with golden haloes around their heads, because some artists could actually see auras. In Australia remote West Kimberleys, you can find prehistoric cave paintings (right), many thousands of years old, depicting people with golden haloes. All religions have had the concept of positive spiritual energy, the equivalent of the Chinese concept of chi and the Christian concept of grace. Working with spiritual energy help you become a more spiritually balanced person and eventually a better Christian, Moslem, and so

I was doing a little looking around at several different computer systems. I really took an interested in the DELL XPS computer system. Dell’s XPS computers starting price for the basic system is a whapping 999.00 dollars. I was totally dumb founded after looking at the components that Dell was going to put in that computer system for that kind of money it wasn’t a very good deal at all.

What most people fail to realize is that if you look at the basic or standard components that are put in the computer system. That is what you get. If you want more your price tag will go up considerably. The price tag on Dell’s top xps system starts at 1800. 00 dollars. That is again for the standard components that are more improved then there basic modal but still not a good value if you look at the big picture.

Just recently a friend of mine asked me if I could build him a computer system equivalent to the dell XPS 600 modal. There top XPS computer, and how much it would coast. That’s when I started looking at there system because I really have no reason to look at the computers on the market because I build my own computer. Ever since the first thousand dollars I wasted on an assembly line computer that I won’t go into at this time.

After looking at what was offered in the XPS 600 modal I was able to go to my computer hardware source and find competitive components or even better components then what was offered in that computer system the (XPS600). Also I was able to use some of the computer parts that were in the system that this system was going to be replaced with. I was able to come up with a considerable savings of more then 700.00 dollars.

I built this computer system for my friend who is a real on line gaming nut. He is very happy and I made 200.00 and what was left of his other system. Just to give you an idea. Here is a little bit of what I was able to put in this computer system. A duel core AMD 4600 processor, a gigabyte PCI 16 Express motherboard with sli technology, Also a 7800 256 NVIDIA pci express card along with 1 gig of hyper X DDR ram, and a plextor DVD burner. A 250 gig serial ata hard drive with 8 Meg cach, and I was even able to give him his own OEM Full version of XP Windows PRO. Not an installed version that you have to pay for if you ever need it. I put all this and a few other little extras in an Aspire X- Paider aluminum black case with a 500 watt power supply. With an open side panel and 4 led lighted fans. Really puts on a show just sitting there.

This computer system was a gaming system I put together for a friend of mine. You can build a basic computer for your basic needs, and save yourself a lot of money. If you have a computer you can use parts that are on it, and upgrade your computer for less than 300 dollars. Remember this and that is in this world you can ether get what you pay for. Or pay for what you get. The choice is yours.

Robert Emler: I build computers as a hobby. It’s not my job and it’s not what I do for a living. I do it because it’s fun and interesting. And I don’t want to get ripped of by some shop because I don’t know what I have. It’s like the hot rod car owners. That’s their hobby, and a lot of them have some really sweet cars. So they must know what their doing. Learn to build your own computer or at least take the time to find out what your computer is all about so you don’t get taken advantage of some day. All most all computer shops will charge you $50 just to take the side off your computer system. To learn more about your computer, or even how to build your own personal computer, you can. 1. Buy an additional hard drive and dedicate it to your paging file. The paging file is a file on your hard disk that is used when you have no more RAM available to run applications. Windows creates a paging file on your hard drive that simulates RAM. This can cause big slow downs on your system because the same disk that your computer is accessing for files is trying to write to the page file. When you dedicate a separate drive this disk access can happen simultaneously. You should not need anything more than about 20-40GB. You can find those on E-Bay or a used computer store for next to nothing. The article below will help you move the paging file once you have installed and formatted your additional hard drive:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307886/

2. Double the RAM installed in your computer. This is, by far, the easiest way to drastically increase the performance of your computer. Many benchmarks have been performed indicating that increasing the RAM in your computer doesn’t provide much benefit until you can, at least, double it. Check with your computer’s manufacturer for details on what type of RAM you should by and how to install it.

3. Clean up your hard drive. This is probably the most time consuming but does provide quite a benefit. The first step is to remove all those old programs and kids games that you no longer use. Once you have finished this task, defrag the hard drive! You will be surprised at the performance boost this can give that old computer. Defrag organizes your files in a way that allows for the quickest access of files. When you have fragmentation, any one file can be in pieces all over your hard drive. Obviously it takes less time when the parts of your file are all together. Below is a nice set of instructions for running defrag and uninstalling programs:

Explaining “Cookies” (the non caloric ones that reside in your computer!)

You can’t talk about all those nasty ‘things’ that can ‘attack’ your computer while you are surfing the Internet, like viruses or spyware, without talking about ‘Cookies’. But what are they and are they really bad for my computer?

Ok, first let’s define the term, and then we’ll explain the good and the bad about it.

Cookie(s):

A small data (text and numbers) file (piece of information) created by a Web server (large computer that stores web sites) that is stored on your computer either temporarily for that session only (the time that you spend on a web site) or permanently on the hard disk (persistent cookie). Cookies provide a way for the Web site that you visit and go back to visit again, to identify users and keep track of their preferences. Amazon and Barnes and Noble online are very creative in the use of their cookies that get generated when you visit.

Here’s an example from my computer from visiting the Disney.com website:

CP null*disneyworld.disney.go.com/1088 1761935360 30785590 403215680 29726670*

Notice that the only thing in that string of text and numbers that you can recognize is the name of the website. The rest of the information is simply a set of numbers that only a computer can understand.

Why are cookies important to you? Well, you would not be able to browse through the Web as you are currently used to if you had cookies restricted on your computer.

The Good “Cookies” (non calorie type)

Cookies are commonly used to “maintain the state” (the current or last-known status) of the session (time that you spend on a site) as a user browses around on the site. For example, if you filled out a form and decided to leave that for a moment to view another page, when you come back to that form, the information that you already filled in would still be there. Without cookies, the site would not know who you were.

On the 2 web sites that I mentioned, Amazon and Barnes and Noble, they both use a combination of cookies and online database to recognize you when you return to the site as well as “remember” your earlier choices and from those choices recommend possible book or music choices for you on your current visit.

Imagine, if you will, walking into a local Barnes and Noble store where a clerk immediately recognizes you, walks up to you as she calls you by name and walks you over to your own table of books and music. You see that they have put all of your favorite kinds of books and musicians on the table, both new and old works, all laid out for your quick viewing pleasure!

And, on the next table, is a sign saying “Other people who bought these items also purchased these items” so that you may find interesting items that you may never have seen but might find interesting. Wouldn’t that make shopping a great experience?

Well, that is exactly what it is like to shop online with a sophisticated shopping web site like Barnes and Noble and Amazon! And it’s only because of cookies remembering who you are that allows this type of service to occur.

The Bad Side of Cookies

Actually, as you have just seen, cookies on your computer are not a bad thing; it’s just that the information that they contain can be quite enticing to unscrupulous people. Quite a bit of personal data may reside in the cookie files in your computer, such as ID and Password information. As a result, this storehouse of private information is sometimes the object of attack, which is what happens with some types of spyware.

The default (Default refers to a value automatically assigned to a computer program or device), settings in your Web browser typically allow “first-party” cookies that do not contain any personal information, but not “third-party” cookies.

First-party cookies are ones that are created by the Web site you are visiting. Third-party cookies are created by a Web site other than the one you are currently visiting; for example, by a third-party advertiser on that site (pop-up or banner). The purpose of such cookies is usually to track your surfing habits, which is why third-party cookies are considered an invasion of privacy and riskier than first-party cookies. In some instances cookies are used to consolidate and track user behavior across different sites, which provide marketers with private information about you without your knowledge. These are what are referred to as Tracking Cookies.

Aha, now we’re getting somewhere!

Because, a Tracking Cookie is a somewhat new term for a cookie that has been design by the above mentioned ‘unscrupulous’ people that do business on the Web. It is part of the unfortunate phenomenon known as Spyware! But, that’s a topic for another whole article!
